Swim Season: The swim season typically runs from April to June.

Requirements:  Any athlete with an up-to-date medical form on file with Special Olympics Minnesota can participate. (Check here for the status of your medical form.) There are flotation events for beginning swimmers. There are also assisted swimming events where coaches can swim alongside.

Events:  During area and state competitions, athletes can compete in three events and one relay.

The following events are offered in distances of 25 meters, 50 meters, 100 meters, and 200 meters.  There are ultra-long events as well. There is a 15-meter freestyle available for flotation, assisted and unassisted.

  • Freestyle
  • Butterfly
  • Breast Stroke
  • Back Stroke

There is also a Medley Event that consists of one pool length of each stroke.

The RAVE typically has several teams participating in the 4 x 25 meter relay. Participation is limited based on a number of factors including experience, level of commitment, and number of athletes available at a given level.
